If a stranger called and asked you for your credit card information over the phone, you wouldn’t give it to them. Just like a credit card, you shouldn’t give your Medicare number out to anyone other than your doctor’s office. Medical identity theft can cause false diagnoses, incorrect lab results, or denied care, just to name a few things.

Between now and March 31, 2020 if you are enrolled in a Medicare Advantage Plan (MA) you can switch to another MA plan or you can leave your MA plan and return to Original Medicare and join a Prescription Drug Plan.
